DRAFT RULES
for examinations for obtaining the right to occupy a chair, pursuant to the Statute on the Institute, § 8, Art. 2, item 6.
§ 1. The examination for obtaining the right to occupy a chair consists of an oral examination and takes place in the meetings of the corresponding Department.
Note. If necessary, the examinee writes the answer on paper or on the board.
§ 2. Examinations are held from September 1 to May 15 and must be completed within 6 months; the period from May 15 to September 1 is not counted.
§ 3. The examination, according to programs approved in advance by the Department, is conducted by examiners elected by the Department; questions may also be proposed by all members of the Department.
§ 4. During the examination a special protocol is kept, in which all the principal questions proposed to the examinee are entered. The assessment of the examination is made by the meeting of the Department.
The degree of knowledge of the examinee is designated by the words “satisfactory” or “unsatisfactory.” Upon completion of all examinations the meeting of the Department makes a general conclusion as to whether the examinee has passed or has not passed the examination.
§ 5. A person who has not passed the examination may appear for a second examination no earlier than one year after the first, and for a third examination no earlier than one year after the second; moreover, each time the examination is conducted in all subjects, without credit for marks received at previous examinations.
§ 6. In accordance with the chairs established at the Institute, divisions of sciences are established, in which examinations are conducted.
Draft Examination Rules
In each division, the subjects of examination are divided into two kinds: 1) principal subjects for the given chair, and 2) auxiliary subjects standing in closest connection with the former.
§ 7. The principal and auxiliary subjects of each division are established by the meeting of the corresponding Department and approved by the Council of the Institute. In case of need, changes and additions to the list of subjects are worked out by the meeting of the corresponding Department and approved by the Council.
§ 8. The examination is conducted in all principal subjects of the division of the corresponding chair, the examinee being obliged to submit examination syllabi for them, which are subject to approval by the Department; the syllabus for the subject constituting the examinee’s specialty must be drawn up in greater detail.
§ 9. From among the auxiliary subjects the examinee selects the corresponding cycle of subjects; the examination is conducted only in the selected subjects and according to the syllabi submitted by the examinee and approved by the Department.
