Photography of the Aurora Borealis
(C. Störmer. Photographs of the aurorae borealis. Astrophys. Journal. Vol. 45, No. 1, p. 67. 1917).
On October 13, 1916, the famous investigator of auroras1, Störmer, succeeded in photographing the aurora borealis in Christiania. The accompanying photographs reproduce the aurora in the form of rays and bands (Fig. 1, exposure 3 seconds) and an arc-shaped aurora borealis (Fig. 2, exposure 10 seconds).
