Russian Bibliography of Natural Science and Mathematics, compiled by the Bureau of International Bibliography, attached to the Russian Academy of Sciences. Volume IX (1912–1913). Petrograd—1918 (VIII+426 pp.). Price 7 rubles.
With the growth of modern natural science it is very difficult to keep track of the rapid advances in individual fields of science. This situation is felt especially strongly in Russian literature, where the scattered nature of works among publications that are not easily accessible, and the market’s lack of awareness of the appearance of new works, result in our, Russians, often learning about our own works from abstracts in Western journals. One cannot therefore fail to be grateful to the Bureau of International Bibliography for its enormous work in putting in order and systematizing all the scientific material appearing among us in Russia. In order for the Bureau’s publication to attain its ideal, one must hope that, after the war, the systematic annual indexes will appear among us as quickly as possible, as is done in Germany; then we shall have the full possibility of knowing about all the scientific news appearing in our fatherland.
