Among the numerous textbooks on medical roentgenology, this highly distinctive “Manual” should occupy a prominent place. In essence, it is a detailed set of instructions for roentgenologists in American military hospitals, but it will be read with great benefit by any beginning roentgenologist. The book is published anonymously; there is no doubt, however, that it was compiled by a whole group of specialists. What draws attention is its truly American practicality and clarity of exposition, with every step supported by numerous graphs, very clear diagrams, and examples of calculations. Not only the beginner, but also the specialist roentgenologist will find much of interest in this manual; we may point, for example, to the extensive chapter devoted to the localization of foreign bodies.

The appearance of the edition is striking in its elegance and portability.
