II discusses the basic principle of instruments used for measuring diffuse and total radiation, the Yanishevskii pyranometer, albedo, and the Arago–Davy–Kalin actinometer.

The two monographs, taken together, cover very fully the theory of the chemical, elastic, surface, thermal, electrical, and optical properties of nonmetallic solids at not excessively high temperatures. The first monograph is one of the classic works on the physics of the solid state. In the second monograph (1933) the general ideas and methods presented in the first are developed further in an evident manner.

The book is a systematic and sufficiently complete manual that can be used for the in-depth study of disciplines concerning questions of overvoltages.

A precision measurement of the lattice constants of the alloys has been carried out, as well as a study of the relative change in the intensity of reflections 002 and 101. The data of the X-ray investigation are compared with the results of density and hardness measurements, and also with the results of investigations by other authors.
