Furduev. The remaining chapters were revised by N. N. Andreev, P. N. Belikov, V. M. Mantsev, and A. S. Predvoditelev.

The first part (4–155) contains basic information from metrology and an investigation of the fundamental equations and methodological errors of instruments; next, the principal elements of instruments and their classification are considered, brief information from the general theory of errors is given, and, finally, instrumental errors in static measurements are examined in detail. The conclusions are illustrated by concrete examples from various branches of instrument engineering. In the second part (156–245), probability theory is considered and inertial errors are studied in measurements of quantitative factors both of short-term nonperiodic phenomena and of periodic ones. In the third part (246–283), a methodology is given for calculating measuring instruments using several examples. The appendices to the book contain derivations of the principal equations of the instruments considered.
