This paper reformulates a previously derived relativistic collision integral for elastic collisions between two particle species in a form analogous to the classical Boltzmann collision integral. Using invariant momentum variables, Lorentz transformations to the center-of-inertia frame, and the associated Jacobians, the derivation rewrites the gain and loss terms so that the scattering kernel appears through the differential cross section and post-collision momenta. The resulting expression has the standard Boltzmann structure involving the difference between products of distribution functions before and after collision. It is then shown that the integral vanishes for distributions of relativistic Maxwell type, with a timelike parameter vector interpreted as the mean four-velocity of the gas.

REDUCTION OF THE RELATIVISTIC COLLISION INTEGRAL TO BOLTZMANN FORM

In papers \((^{1,2})\) an expression was found for the relativistic collision integral. For the case of elastic collisions we reduce it here to Boltzmann form. This makes it possible to prove that the collision integral for particles distributed according to the relativistic Maxwell law is equal to 0.
Consider collisions of particles of some species \(\alpha\) with particles of species \(\beta\). We shall assume that all collisions of these particles are elastic. The distribution (22) is a generalization of the law of the local Maxwell distribution to the relativistic case. The quantity \([(\Omega,P)-m]c^2\) is the kinetic energy of a particle in a frame of reference moving with velocity \(\Omega\).
