Abstract Generated abstract

This paper reports the fractional composition and selected physicochemical properties of crude oil from the Sosninsko-Sovetsko-Medvedevskoye field in Tomsk Oblast, with emphasis on evaluating potential yields of light and lubricating distillates. The crude oil was subjected to atmospheric-vacuum rectification on an ARN-2 apparatus, producing narrow fractions for which yields, boiling ranges, density, refractive index, molecular weight, viscosity, pour and flash points, sulfur content, and paraffin characteristics were determined where applicable. The resulting true-boiling-point and property curves indicate gasoline fraction yields of about 31.5 to 31.6 percent up to 200°C and kerosene fraction yields of about 51.7 to 52.0 percent up to 300°C, with a residue above 450°C of 20.7 percent.

The fractional composition of crude oil is the most important characteristic, since it gives an idea of the content in the oil of light petroleum products and lubricating fractions.

...distillation; in this process the yields of the fractions and the temperature limits of their boiling are determined, and from the results a true-boiling-point curve (TBP) is constructed.

In addition to the TBP curve, the physicochemical properties of the fractions taken off are determined (density, molecular weight, viscosity at different temperatures, flash and pour points, sulfur and paraffin content). The data obtained are expressed as curves on the same graph on which the TBP curve is plotted.

The property curves of narrow fractions make it possible to determine, by calculation, the quality of light and oil distillates obtained from the crude oil.

The potential content of fractions in the crude oil from well 18 of the Sosninsko-Sovetsko-Medvedevskoye field, as well as the results of its distillation in the ARN-2 apparatus and the characteristics of the fractions obtained, are given in Tables 1 and 2. Figure 1 presents the distillation curves for this crude oil, which show that the yield of gasoline fractions up to 200°C is 31,5%, and of kerosene fractions (up to 300°C), 51,7%.
