Abstract Generated abstract

This article compiles laboratory determinations of physical properties of reservoir oils from numerous Western Siberian fields and formations for use in interpreting hydrodynamic well tests. Using the method of Mamuna and coauthors, it reports average values by field or stratum for reservoir oil viscosity, degassed oil viscosity at surface conditions, surface density, formation volume factor, gas content, gas density, and oil compressibility. The tabulated data emphasize reservoir viscosity as the principal parameter for well-test analysis, while also providing quantities needed to convert between surface and reservoir oil volumes and to estimate well influence radius under elastic reservoir conditions.

RHEOLOGICAL AND SOME OTHER PROPERTIES OF WESTERN SIBERIAN OILS

This article is the result of a synthesis of studies of the physical properties of reservoir oils carried out in the petroleum-reservoir physics laboratory of the Tomsk Polytechnic Institute by L. A. Pukhlyakov and G. N. Chertenkova and in the Central Research Laboratory of Glavtyumenneftegeologiya under the direction of T. D. Ostrovskaya.

The article is intended for use in processing the results of hydrodynamic studies of wells. Hence the principal attention in it is given to oil viscosity under reservoir conditions, $\mu_{\text{pl}}$. By this term is meant the viscosity of non-degassed oil at reservoir temperature and reservoir pressure.

Second in importance is the viscosity of oil under surface conditions, $\mu_{\text{s.n.}}$. By this term is meant the viscosity of completely degassed oil at a temperature of 20° C and a pressure of 760 mm Hg. In processing the results of hydrodynamic studies of wells this parameter is not used. However, in view of the fact that, when the temperature of oil decreases and its light fractions are lost in the process of degassing, its viscosity increases sharply, this parameter is nevertheless given. Incidentally, knowledge of this parameter is necessary in calculating the capacity of oil pipelines.

Further, the article (Table 1) gives the density of separated oil under surface conditions, $\gamma_{\text{s.n.}}$, the oil formation volume factor $b$, the average gas content $f_v$, and the average gas density $\rho_g$. Knowledge of these parameters is necessary for determining the volume of oil under reservoir conditions from its volume or weight under surface conditions; without this it is impossible to process the results of hydrodynamic studies.

Finally, the article (Table 1) gives the mean compressibility coefficients of oils $\alpha$. Knowledge of this parameter is necessary for determining the radius of influence of a well when the reservoir operates under an elastic regime, that is, under conditions in which the bottom-hole pressure does not reach the saturation pressure.

All the listed parameters were determined according to the method set forth by V. N. Mamuna et al. [1]. The results of the studies are summarized in Table 1.

The oil fields in Table 1 are given in alphabetical order. In most cases the name of the field is followed by
